Software updates

The version of Expert Controller Plus in use is shown on the 'About' window below the application icon.

Expert Controller Plus is available from two locations:

1. Direct from g0rvm.uk

2. From the Apple App store.

The latest release at g0rvm.uk is currently for evaluation purposes only and has an evaluation period of 30 days. After this time functions to Start, Stop, Wake and Sleep Connections and Groups becomes restricted. In future it will be possible to purchase Expert Controller Plus directly from the g0rvm.uk website, however, at this time the unrestricted version is only available to purchase from the Apple App store.

The Apple App store release also has a free evaluation period of 30 days but the unrestricted version may then be purchased with a one-time, In App Purchase.

Functionally both the version from g0rvm.uk and the Apple App store are the same.

Direct from g0rvm.uk

When Expert Controller Plus is downloaded direct from g0rvm.uk it may be updated in two ways:

• Using the App - Using the update feature within the App
• Manual - Manual download and installation.

Apple App store

If Expert Controller Plus was purchased from the Apple App store, the App store, as with any other App, will either notify users or install updates automatically when they become available.

Using the App

Menu option Expert Controller Plus | Check for updates... may be used to check for an update.

Before proceeding with an update ensure all Connections are in an 'Interfaced closed' state.

If the latest version is already in use, a window similar to that below is presented.

When an update is available a window is presented that provides the option to download and install, to skip the update or to remind the user at a later time (around 24 hrs) of availability.

If 'Install Update' is selected, Expert Controller Plus will download the new version from the g0rvm.uk website and guide the user through its installation. Existing configuration including Connections, Groups etc are preserved between updates.

An example of this window is presented below.

After download macOS will request user authentication prior to starting the installation process at which stage the user is asked to 'Install and Relaunch' Expert Controller Plus.

Once installation is complete macOS will restart Expert Controller Plus.

Manual

Updates may be downloaded and installed manually from the Downloads page at g0rvm.uk.

First select and download the update. This will download a file with a name that identifies the App and its version. For example:

ExpertControllerPlus-v1.0.0-1021.pkg

Next, double-click or run the downloaded file. This will start the installer and guide the user through the installation process.

After installation Expert Controller Plus may be restarted.
