Overview

SPE Expert Controller is a macOS 14 – 15 application for the management and control of SPE Expert 1.3k-FA, 1.5k-FA, 1.5k-Taurus and 2k-FA RF amplifiers.

Description

SPE Expert Controller provides the capability to remotely manage the configuration and control of a single connected SPE Expert 1.3k-FA, 1.5k-FA, 1.5k-Taurus or 2k-FA RF amplifier using a USB, RS-232 or TCP/IP interface.

The application has been designed to provide a similar user experience to the SPE, Windows application and the front-panel of an amplifier. Therefore, the application’s user interface should be recognisable and familiar. It delivers the same core features allowing the configuration and control of an amplifier as the SPE Windows application. Additionally it has capabilities to vocalise or speak the operational state of an amplifier to aid operators with visual impediments and to interconnect with an amplifier using a TCP/IP interface (Third-party network/serial adapter required). It does not implement the amplifier firmware update capability found in the SPE Windows application.

Core capabilities of SPE Expert Controller are grouped in three areas: Controller, RF Information and Health information. These are supported by a Settings capability that permits configuration of, for example, the serial interface to which an amplifier may be connected.

SPE Expert Controller was originally designed in 2024 for macOS 14.x and the majority of its features remain available on that macOS version. SPE Expert Controller has been tried on Beta versions of macOS 26 / Tahoe successfully. After the official release of macOS 26, SPE Expert Controller will be updated to use its Liquid Glass style whilst retaining compatibility with macOS 14 and 15 versions.
